Working within the Major Incident Room (MIR) as the Action Manager you will allocate staff to investigate serious incidents and manage the allocation, investigation, completion and submission of Major Incident Room documentation. You will also conduct enquiries into serious crime or crime related matters and act as the outside Enquiries Supervisor within the MIR. You will also have line management responsibility for Incident Room staff dealing with personnel issues including the allocation and monitoring of work, staff training and development, staff discipline, grievance and welfare to provide an efficient and effective investigative support service to the unit. Having used legal knowledge to good operational effect, you will effectively apply a wide range of force operational and national procedures in relation to major crime investigations, making the connection between social issues and policing. You will have knowledge of the law and national procedures in relation to major crime together with knowledge of forensic issues, including crime scene and exhibits management. Liaising with CPS and legal representatives you will have experience of investigating complex and protracted enquiries, the preparation of prosecution files and HOLMES 2 Action management. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is also essential to this role. You will be required to provide a DNA sample for elimination purposes.
